Favorite Sports Film

Rudy is my favorite sports film because it appeals to every American and it brings true happiness to the audience especially the moment Rudy gets carried off the field at the very end of the movie with the crowd roaring and yelling Rudy. Although Rudy did not become a star player or anything, his dream of walking on to the Notre Dame football team became true which is what appealed to me the most because I can relate to Rudy as I am trying to walk on at FSU in January. This movie is a tremendous underdog story because it is Rudy vs poverty and the entire Notre Dame coaching staff as he is only looking for an opportunity. Rudy's financial status was not favorable at all which did not help his chances at Notre Dame. Not to mention, the coaches were extremely reluctant in giving him a chance because he did not fit the mold of a typical college football player, any football player for that mattter. Once Rudy got his chance there was no turning back for him. Despite being beaten up in practice every day, he demonstrated his will to succeed and make his dreams come true. Friendship and family was a strong theme in the movie because they were really the only ones who believed in him. They wanted to see him succeed as opposed to mostly everyone else who did not want to even give him a chance.
